Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about our service below. Click on the following sections to find your answers:
On the homepage, use the search bar to enter your postcode or location. Then, use the filters at the top of the search page to refine listings by property type, heat pump type, or installer. You can read each listing's description, where hosts provide more details about their home and installation to find out if the listing is right for you.
When you are on a listing, you can see if hosts have an event under “Upcoming events”. You can then make a booking and arrange a visit. If they have no upcoming events, you can request a visit to let the host know they should create a new event, or message them directly to get in touch.
Our hosts are volunteers who generously share their time and experiences, so we appreciate timely cancellations if your plans change. Check your booking confirmation email, where you’ll find a "cancel your booking" link. You’ll also receive an email reminder 3 days before the event to confirm your attendance, with an option to cancel if needed.
Three days before your scheduled visit, you’ll receive an email to confirm your attendance. Once you confirm, we’ll send you the property address. If you don’t see the email, please check your spam folder. Let us know if you haven’t received the address and it’s within 3 days of the event.
To help you make the most of your visit, we’ve prepared a checklist of useful points to keep in mind during your time with the host.
To sign up as a host, click the "Sign up" button at the top right corner of our website. This will open a form where you can create an account. To start hosting, you’ll be prompted to add details about your heat pump and property, which will be used to create a public profile. Rest assured, your address will remain private and will only be shared with visitors who have confirmed their attendance, three days before the event.
Providing as many details as possible on your profile is helpful, as it allows potential visitors to understand more about your home and heat pump setup, helping them decide if it’s a good match for their interests.
To update your profile or property information, simply log in to your host dashboard. There, you’ll be able to edit your profile, your personal details, property description, and any other relevant information.
To create, edit, or cancel an event, log in to your host dashboard. From there, you can select the dates and times that work best for you and adjust these as needed. You have full control over your availability, so if your plans change, please cancel the event as early as possible to provide ample notice for your visitors.
Ensure your profile is as detailed as possible, as this helps visitors understand your setup and decide if it meets their needs. Adding engaging photos and a clear description will also highlight the unique aspects of your heat pump experience. Remember, as a host, your personal insights are invaluable—there’s no need to cover every technical detail, as your firsthand experience is what makes your listing stand out!
To attract more visitors, consider sharing your listing with neighbours, on social media, or on community boards. We produced an easy-to-use guide to sharing your event details in your community. Keep in mind that the number of sign-ups may depend on your location and local demand, so don’t be discouraged if interest is low at first. Try to keep listing events when you’re available, as people are more likely to see your listing when there is consistent availability.
To manage your list of interested visitors, log in to your host dashboard, where you can view everyone who has expressed interest in visiting your property. If you’re open to hosting a group, we strongly encourage you to create an event through the platform. By setting up an event in your dashboard, you make it easy for interested visitors to sign up, expanding the reach and impact of your listing. Hosting an event through the platform also ensures that we can provide support if needed and allows you to manage bookings smoothly and efficiently.
Once a visit has taken place, or you have replied to a follower, you can archive these visitors. You can still see your archived visitors in a second tab, but by archiving them you can more easily see who you have left to interact with.
For privacy and consent reasons, we don’t share email addresses directly. Instead, visitors can message you through our platform, and you can choose to respond and share your email if you wish. This policy ensures that everyone’s contact information remains private unless they choose to share it themselves.
Hosting is entirely voluntary, so there isn’t a financial reward. Our hosts participate to support their communities and contribute to tackling the climate crisis by sharing their experiences with heat pumps, which many find personally rewarding. While we don't offer payment, we deeply appreciate the time and knowledge our hosts provide in helping others.
We’ve created a guide to help you through every step of your Visit A Heat Pump event. Visits typically last about an hour, so we’ve outlined a suggested agenda to ensure your event runs smoothly from start to finish. This will help you cover all important points and make the most of your time with your visitors.
To sign up as a heat pump installer, click the "Sign up" button on the top right corner of our website. Follow the prompts to create an installer account and provide the necessary details about your business and experience with heat pump installations.
The Visit a Heat Pump platform can help you grow your heat pump business by showcasing your installations and connecting local heat pump owners with prospective buyers interested in seeing the technology in action. Talk to both recent and older customers about the possibility of joining the platform, and offer potential customers the opportunity to visit one of your installations for reassurance. Check the resources section on your dashboard for tips on how to make the most of the site.
If you notice that not all your installations are visible on your dashboard, it may be because a customer has added the wrong installer to their listing, or the installation hasn’t been correctly matched to your account. If this happens, please let us know, and we’ll assist in resolving the issue.
To attract more installations on the platform, consider actively promoting the platform to your current and past customers. Include Visit a Heat Pump in your newsletters and social media posts, along with a link to your installation listings on the platform. Additionally, maintaining a complete and appealing installer profile will increase your visibility to those seeking heat pump installations. For additional tips and resources on making the most of the platform, log in to the installer dashboard.
